The Details

Antioch Bridge toll

The Antioch Bridge connects northeastern Contra Costa County to Sacramento County (the cities of Antioch and Rio Vista along State Route 160). It spans the San Joaquin River. The Antioch Bridge is a toll facility with tolls collected in the eastbound directions on the south end of the bridge.

The Antioch Bridge – overview

The bridge arches over the San Joaquin River, touching down in Sacramento County. It’s one of the least traveled of the region’s toll bridges. Officially known as the Senator John A. Nejedly Bridge, the Antioch Bridge is the only automobile, bicycle, and pedestrian bridge reaching outside the nine-county Bay Area. The Antioch Bridge is part of State Route 160 and has a steel plate girder structure. It only has one single lane of traffic in each direction. The bridge was completed in 1978. It’s 1.8 miles (2.9 km) long with a channel span of 460 feet. For a long time, the Antioch Bridge wasn’t fully safe during major earthquakes. Therefore, Caltrans and the Bay Area Toll Authority evaluated the seismic safety of the bridge. In 2013, a seismic retrofit project was introduced and implemented to increase the level of safety during earthquakes. Currently, over $23.5 million of tolls are collected every year at the Antioch Bridge facility.

How much does traveling across the Antioch Bridge cost?

If you drive a 2-axle vehicle, you will pay a regular $7 toll. During peak hours, some vehicles (clean air vehicles, motorcycles, and vehicles carrying three or more people) are entitled to a discounted rate of $3.50 as long as they have FasTrak toll transponder and use the designated carpool lane. See the complete information on the Antioch Bridge tolls in the table below.
