
Dulles Toll Road in Mclean, Virginia plans to go cashless on March 1
Beginning March 1, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is no longer accepting cash or coin payments.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission awarded the Trumbell Corporation a $214 million contract to begin work on a Mon/Fayette Expressway PA Route 51 to I-376 Project’s southern section, which runs from its terminus at State Route 51 in Jefferson Hills to State Route 837 in Duquesne, Allegheny County, according to a statement from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
The passing of Act 89, put the $1.3 billion project in motion by providing a funding stream dictated by the state legislature to elevate the economy in Mon Valley.
According to a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission statement the project represents a significant investment in the Mon Valley that will enhance mobility in the area. The nearly quarter billion dollar contract builds the first section, which lies mainly in Jefferson Hills Borough but also reaches West Mifflin Borough and the City of Clairton in Allegheny County. A public meeting in February is expected to explain the scope of work.
“The public meeting is a chance for residents in the area to hear directly from the engineering team about construction details and how it may affect them,” said PA Turnpike CEO, Mark Compton in a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission press release. “I encourage people to attend, but if they cannot, the information will be on the website.”
The Mon/Fayette Expressway (PA Turnpike 43) extends 54 miles from 1-68 near Morgantown, WV to State Route 51 in Jefferson Hills, Allegheny County. For more information about the Mon/Fayette Expressway and the PA 51 to I-376 Project visit the website at www.paturnpikemonfayette.com.
