Dulles Toll Road in Mclean, Virginia plans to go cashless on March 1
Beginning March 1, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is no longer accepting cash or coin payments.
The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority increased rates on six Austin-area toll roads beginning Jan. 1, 2023, the agency announced in December 2022.
Five of the roads – 183A Toll, 290 Toll, 71 Toll Lane, 45SW Toll, 183 Toll – had a variable rate increase of 8.2%. The rate on the MoPac Express Lane increased by 5 cents per segment, or 10 cents for a full-length trip.
All rate increases affect customers with electronic tags on their two-axle vehicles. The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority accepts payments through several other electronic toll tag systems. Those are the Harris County Toll Road Authority’s EZ-TAG, North Texas Tollway Authority’s TollTag, Texas Department of Transportation’s TxTag, Kansas Turnpike Authority’s K-TAG, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s PIKEPASS, and BancPass.
The mobile authority raised the rates following its October 2022 board meeting, and based the rate increase on the Consumer Price Index.
Customers can save by using an electronic toll tag instead of Pay By Mail, which can incur rates up to 50 percent higher than electronic tag rates, plus a $1 processing fee. Customers can also open a prepaid registered account to pay rates lower than the Pay By Mail option but without the need for a toll tag on their vehicle. Go online or call to sign up and add $25 to your account, which will be used to automatically pay any toll fees incurred.
The mobile authority provides the following charts listing the new Jan. 2023 rates for the five toll roads. For a list of all toll road rates operated by the mobile authority, see https://www.mobilityauthority.com/pay-your-toll/rates.
