183A Tollway in Williamson County halfway to completion

Construction on the realignment of the 183A Tollway in Williamson County is now half completed, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority reported in March.

The project involves making new structures to carry U.S. Highway 183 Tollway traffic under and over already existing intersections, including 17 new bridges and several retaining walls.

The recently completed portion of the construction included a new bridge at the intersection of 183 and State Highway 29 – which will carry vehicles and pedestrian traffic over the new 183A toll lanes, plus reconstruction of a portion of County Road 213/County Road 258, and adding dedicated right turn lanes from US 183 onto CR 213/CR 258.

Construction on the project began in spring 2021. Traffic volume in Williamson County, particularly around Cedar Park, Leander, and Liberty Hill, is expected to increase by 142 percent by 2042.
